I’ve noticed that songs released in the last few years that sound half-way decent sample or try to emulate songs from the 1970s and 1980s – back when music was still good – not like the trash we have today.

“Back to the Future” meets “Tokyo Drift.”

Great Scott! Engineers at Stanford’s Dynamic Design Lab have taught a self-driving DeLorean — the iconic early 80s sports car of “Back to the Future” fame — how to drift around a complex, kilometer-long track that even human drivers would struggle with.

Midnight Sun by Miley Cyrus – Music Suggestion for Gen X

September 28, 2020

I’ve found Miley Cyrus’ music releases to be very “hit or miss.”

On this occasion, I think she got it right – also, her work with Mark Ronson was quite good.

About two or three weeks ago, Cyrus released a song called “Midnight Sun.” It has a little bit of a retro vibe, and she looks a little like a blonde 80s era Pat Benatar.

Taylor Swift Breaks Whitney Houston’s 33-year-old Billboard Record

Taylor Swift Breaks Whitney Houston’s 33-year-old Billboard Record

Well, this is a shame. I believe most of Houston’s music surpasses that of Swift’s, quality-wise.

That’s true of music over-all, I believe though; music that’s been released by  Photos of Taylor Swift (top) and Whitney Houston (bottom)any band or singer since around 2010 has been awful.

Very few post- 2009 songs by anyone have been any good, and certainly none of it stands up to the majority of 1970s and 1980s era music.

(Note: I am not a Taylor Swift “hater.” She does have a few songs that are very good.)

Taylor Swift just topped a record set by Whitney Houston that’s stood for more than three decades: The singer has surpassed Houston for the most weeks at No. 1 by a woman in the Billboard 200 chart.

According to Billboard, Swift’s surprise quarantine album Folklore has now clocked seven non-consecutive weeks at the top, which gives Swift a career total of 47 weeks ruling the chart. Houston had 46 weeks. In third place is Adele with 34 weeks.

No, it’s not a careless whisper: a nine-metre-high image of the singer, by artist Dawn Mellor, is set to adorn Brent

Turn a different corner in the London borough of Brent from September and you’ll be confronted with the strangest thing: a nine-metre mural of local hero George Michael.

George Michael SketchesNo this isn’t just a careless whisper. British artist Dawn Mellor has been commissioned to paint a permanent public artwork in Kingsbury, celebrating the life of the singer, who grew up in the area.

Singer Rick Astley, who gave us hits such as “Never Gonna Give You Up” and “Together Forever” has been immortalized as a Lego in a video.

…As Game Rant reports, YouTube user Domy13 has created a version of Rick Astley’s classic music video for “Never Gonna Give You Up” that depicts the singer as an animated LEGO action figure. At about 1.5 minutes long, it’s a good two minutes shorter than the original video; but for those blessed 90 seconds, it matches its source material frame for frame.

Vicious by Tate McRae – Music Suggestion for Gen X

Here is a song by someone under the age of 40 that isn’t half bad – “Vicious” by a Canadian singer called Tate McRae.

While the song does contain some of the typical contemporary musical productions I cannot stand, the catchy melody (this song, unlike so many songs post 2009, actually contains a melody!) makes up for it.

This song was released in June of 2020.

September 14th, 1980 was a landmark day in “Weird Al” Yankovic history. Not only was it the day the world first heard his Queen parody “Another One Rides the Bus” when he debuted it on the Dr. Demento Radio Show, but it was also the day he first came into contact with Jon Schwartz, a young drummer who happened to be hanging out at the station.

Animaniacs Cartoon Show to Be Rebooted (2020)

I used to watch Animaniacs in the 1990s, when I was a college student. I loved Pinky and the Brain – I think Pinky and the Brain were a spin off of that show?

At any rate, here are links about it:
