Movie Soundtrack – Batman Forever – Music Suggestion

Movie Soundtrack – Batman Forever – Music Suggestion

Granted, the Batman Forever movie wasn’t so great (wasn’t terrible, but wasn’t the best), but I bought the soundtrack on CD-Rom around 1995 (I still have it), later ripped the songs to my hard drive, have them on my iPod, and it’s a really good soundtrack.

Some of the songs are mid to fast tempo, so they’re good for biking or running to, while slower numbers are good for walking to.

You can read more about the Batman Forever soundtrack on Wikipedia

The biggest hit from this soundtrack, the best known song, is probably Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose.” But there are so many other great songs on this disc.

Michael Hutchence (former lead singer of Aussie band INXS) did one of the tracks on the soundtrack: “The Passenger.”

(If you like the “Passenger” song, be aware that Siouxsie and the Banshees also did an excellent cover of that song in the 1980s that you may want to check out (listen to it on You Tube (audio only), and/or  buy The Passenger by Siouxsie and the Banshees via Amazon’s site).)

Duran Duran – Music Suggestions (1980s – 1998)

Duran Duran – Music Suggestions (1980s – 1998)

For this post, my familiarity with Duran Duran’s music runs from the 1980s to the late 1990s album “Medazzaland, though I’m a bit fuzzy on their work after the mid or late 1980s.

(Perhaps in the future I will get around to listening to their post-1997 work and write up a part 2, if I find myself wanting to recommend their newer work or if I have the time.)

Back when I was in junior high school, Duran Duran was huge – at least among girls – though I suspect that some guys liked their music but were too embarrassed to admit it, because Duran Duran was sort of considered to be a band for girls.

When my older brother was in his 20s, he bought the Duran Duran greatest hits CD (this was before the internet, streaming, and downloading mp3s online – the Duran Duran Greatest Hits CD album art is pictured to the left…)

Anyway, I was not a Duranie per se (but I was a huge fan of their rival, Norwegian band A-Ha). I mean, I liked Duran Duran’s music just fine in the 80s, but I did not have a crush on any of the band members, as so many other girls did.

I recall, when I was in junior high, on many mornings on the school bus hearing two big Duranies get into heated arguments over which band member was cutest: one girl insisted it was John Taylor, and the other one felt quite strongly it was Simon LeBon.

Anyway, if you were a kid or a teen in the 1980s, you probably remember a lot of Duran Duran’s songs and videos from their “Rio” album (released in 1982; view Wikipedia’s page on the album), such as “Rio,” (link to that on You Tube) “Save A Prayer,” and “Hungry Like The Wolf.”

Janet Jackson – Music Suggestions

Sure, if you’re Gen X you remember the Control album. (Read more about the Control album on Wikipedia).

You probably also remember Janet’s Rhythm Nation 1814 album. (Read more about the Rhythm Nation 1814 album on Wikipedia)

You remember Janet wearing that single key in one ear in her music videos then.

You remember “What Have You Done For Me Lately,” (Link You Tube) and “Nasty” (Link You Tube – audio only. Link You Tube – official music video).

You of course remember the Rhythm Nation 1814 song and video (Link You Tube). And Miss You Much (Link You Tube). Love Will Never Do Without You (Link You Tube).

You may even remember “Black Cat” (Link You Tube – audio only).

But if you’re like I am, Janet may have just dropped off your musical radar at some point in the 1990s.

So you may have missed some of her other songs post 1980s.

The other day, I went to You Tube and listened to all of Janet’s “Damito Jo” album (here). I didn’t care for most of the songs on that album – however there were one or two that I enjoyed.
